Dec 27 @ 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Healing Services @ Kiama Uniting Church | Kiama | New South Wales | Australia

As Christians we believe in God who comforts, heals and empowers people today and we want to live out that promise by offering a regular time and place where people can come together to pray, meditate, sing, hear testimony and experience the power of God’s healing in their lives. You may come and go as you choose.
You may simply sit and absorb or participate as much as you wish. Our elders will be available for private prayer and anointing.

World Day of Prayer @ Kiama Anglican Church
Mar 1 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

In 2019 The World Day of Prayer host country will be Slovenia and the theme, prepared by the women, is “Come – Everything is Ready!” The Bible study text is Luke 14: 15-24.

Slovenia is located in Central Europe and is one of the smallest countries in that region. There are four major natural units: the Alps, the Pannonian Plains, the Dinarides, and the Mediterranean Area. Its highest mountain is the Triglav. Slovenia has two million inhabitants and the official language is Slovene, with Hungarian and Italian being co-official languages.

Rezka Arnuš was born in Božakovo near Metlika, Slovenia, in a farmer’s family with 7 children. She is a visually impaired amateur artist who has been creating works of art for the past 18 years. Her eyes are limited just to 5% of a normal sight when there is enough light. She is the Artist for this year’s World Day of Prayer.

In 2017 World Day of Prayer Australia funded this Bible Society programme in the Philippines.
Now this highly regarded Bible-based programme is being prepared for Slovenia and the particular needs of Slovenian women. Our offertories on March 1will enable the Trauma Healing
for Women programme to transform lives in Slovenia over the next two years.

The Trauma Healing course is a tested programme that uses methods such as role play, storying, dialogue, writing and art exercises to help women talk about their experiences.
World Day of Prayer Slovenia and Bible Society Slovenia have collaborated with many groups working with women in Slovenia and have identified these traumas as ones commonly experienced
by Slovenian women: violence, abuse, suicide, alcoholism, and post-war wounds, as well as divorce, death in the family and depression.

‘He heals the broken-hearted and bandages their wounds.’
Psalm 147:3

With our offertory funds, course materials will be translated and 30 group facilitators trained. Advertising sessions promoting the course will be held across the country.
Then over the next 2 years, group sessions will be run around the country. Our funds will also provide each participant with printed notes and a Bible in Slovenian.
When trauma in women’s lives starts to heal, this healing spreads to families and communities. And it is hoped that the Trauma Healing programme might also
spread to nearby Croatia, Serbia, Albania and Macedonia.
