Elizabeth found herself in deep despair. She sat down and wrote three notes to the doctor, the police and the person who would discover her body. She took out a gun, cocked it and placed it in her mouth. But then, out of the corner of her eye she saw a white New Testament that two faithful Auxiliary members of The Gideons International had given her. She put the gun down, opened the New Testament and asked herself, “Is there anything in this little book that can give me hope?”
Yes, she did find hope in that book – through Jesus Christ.
So who are the Gideons?
- Gideons are an extension of the mission of the local churches.
- The Gideons International in Australia often reaches people who have no contact with churches and who otherwise might not have been reached for the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Their members are dedicated to saving the lost through personal witnessing and the distribution of God’s Word.
Since 1956 they have distributed almost 16 million Bibles throughout Australia. They have over 3000 members and on average a bible is given every 2 minutes in Australia.
We are delighted to welcome Rick from the local Gideon’s camp to speak with us today about the work of the Gideons and details of his Gideon’s mission trip to Costa Rica
