Tongan Youth Choir Visit

As part of the Kiama Jazz & Blues Festival, we were delighted to be able to host the Tongan Youth Choir from Auburn Uniting Church for the weekend. What a delight its been to share in the enthusiasm and Christian witness of these young people and the senior members of their church. Over 40 members arrived from Auburn on Saturday (with some lovely young children) and after a practice at the local Catholic Church, we hosted gthem for dinner Saturday evening and were rewarded with traditional dancing and singing and some personal/moving testaminies. Members hosted in our homes the female visitors whilst the men bunked down in our 1851 Lecture Hall.

Next morning, we were blessed to have the full choir actively participate in our Sunday morning service singing the most beautiful spiritual songs. The Fellowship Centre was packed with over 100 (including our visitors) partaking of Holy Communion in a lovely service led by Rev. Kath Merrifield. All those present couldn’t fail to be energised by the message and the obvious Christian commitment of the folk from Tonga. We loved having you with us, and a big thank you to Michele Broad for arranging the visit and Stephanie Pryor for organising catering. The photos and videos below are a sample of the weekend.
